Dear Friends

January has almost seen its arse and I haven’t gotten around to writing my monthly letter to you all. The year kicked off to such a running start that I wasn’t always sure if it was my face in the mirror or my very own arse! I shall do my best to not let the year win the race from now on.

So much to tell, but first I need to apologise for not sending out the weekly recipe to all the Culture Club members. I was a bit over eager when I started the club to make a promise like that. I do however promise that from February you WILL receive a recipe once a month, which brings me to some very exciting news...

kykNET has commissioned me to shoot 26 two and a half minute cooking programmes for them which they will use as fillers between programmes as they do with music videos. Two and a half minutes is very short to do a recipe, but I have done it before in one minute and I’m up to the challenge. And a challenge it is certainly going to be! We will be shooting during the day in my kitchen and at night Bruce Little will be performing his show Little Poof! in The Glass Cage.

Bruce J. LittleGet a “Little” intimate this romantic month of February. Aiko Productions is proud to announce a new one hour show starring Bruce J. Little, directed by Neels Clasen and musical direction and piano accompaniment by Catherine Hopkins.

It promises to be “Homofabulous!” If you are gay, bi, curious or even insufferably straight this comic compilation of storytelling and song will delight you with an array of queens from every multicultural closet.

Come and see some of your favourite flamboyant characters (and some unlikely ones) telling their story.
The show runs from the 10th of February until the 28th of February and booking  essential . Come to eat, drink, “gil” and sing a long. Tickets cost R110-00 and for an additional R100-00 you can have a delicious meal.

Rocco de Villiers and Robert MitchleyBut, before any of this happens, Rocco de Villiers and Robert Mitchley will be doing a concert on Sunday 7 February.
As usual I will cook lunch and you can come and have Kos en Konsert with us here on our (very) low mountain, but the highest in Jozi!!
Rocco was the first performer to do a show in The Glass Cage and I am looking forward to hearing him play on my piano again, which reminds me I have to change my last will and testament.

In the old one my piano is still bequeathed to Rocco, but he has bought himself a bigger and grander one. Ungrateful bastard!
On Saturday 13 February we will have a Black Tie Pre-Valentine’s Dinner. At R 500 pp you will get a celebratory glass of bubbly, a seven course meal and wine to go with the food and Nedine Blom will be serenading you.

Valentine's DayTo make it extra special you can book one of our beautiful guest rooms at half price! How’s that for a bargain?

On Valentine’s Day 14 February Janine and I will do a show with lunch and Bruce will be Poofing! in the evening.

The same goes for Sundays 21 and 28 February – Kos en Konsert with Janine and I at midday and Mr Little in the evening.

That’s it for February. I hope to see you all soon and often at Zietsies in 2010.

For those that missed the December 2009 edition of Femina Magazine I would like to inform you that I have finally made it as a calendar girl at the ripe old age of 49! And in bloody good company too! Anneline Kriel Kerzner etc Bacon looks fabulous as does Ashley Hayden, Adele du Plessis, Jenni Morris and all the others. Merwelene van der Merwe took the photographs and she stood her reputation in good stead. Merw has taken some incredible photographs of me over the years and this time was no exception!
